Indoor tennis in Munich this winter: find out which venues allow guests, what court time costs and what to check before booking.
You can play indoor tennis in Munich during winter without joining a club, but guest access depends on the venue. MTV München allows winter bookings by non-members and lists €35 per court-hour on weekday mornings or €40 later in the day and at weekends. This guide compares the rules that matter before you book: who can reserve a court, what the hour really costs, which shoes you need and whether you can cancel. Venue information checked on 29 September 2026.
At a glance
- Guest access: MTV München permits bookings by non-members for its indoor courts in winter. Other venues set their own conditions.
- Published price example: MTV charges non-members €35–40 for an hour indoors, depending on the time and day.
- Possible extras: Guest fees, optional lighting and membership or winter subscription terms can change the total.
- Before paying: Check the current booking calendar, the final price, the court surface, shoe rules and cancellation terms.
Where can you book an indoor court as a guest in Munich?
Guest rules can change between summer and winter at the same club. MTV München explicitly allows non-members to book its indoor courts in winter after registering in its booking system. In summer, guests may play there only with members. Check the rule for the indoor season rather than assuming the outdoor guest policy applies all year.
Sportcenter München Nord, in Oberschleißheim, has indoor and outdoor courts and offers online booking. Its membership section also lists a guest fee of €12 per guest per hour. That figure is not the full price of an independent guest court booking. Check the booking system or ask the venue who may reserve an indoor court and which fees apply to your group.
At MTTC Iphitos, individual indoor hours are booked through eBusy. The club says winter season subscriptions for 2026/27 are restricted to members. That subscription rule does not establish whether a non-member can book a single hour. Check directly with the club or in its booking system before making plans.
Do not mistake Post-Sportverein München’s outdoor court listing for a winter hall option. Its facility page describes 15 outdoor clay courts available from May to October. Only members may use those courts and bring guests; non-members cannot rent one independently. The page does not establish an indoor guest option for winter.
How much does an indoor tennis court cost in Munich?
There is no single Munich-wide hourly rate. MTV München publishes a useful venue-specific example: non-members pay €35 for an hour on an indoor court Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., or €40 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays. The corresponding member rates are €20 and €25. These are MTV prices, not a city average. Confirm the amount shown when you book.
Compare the total cost, not just the first number on a price list:
- Time of day: MTV's non-member rate is €5 higher for its later weekday slots and weekend slots than for weekday mornings.
- Guest or member status: A member rate applies only when you meet the venue's conditions. Sportcenter München Nord's listed €12 per guest per hour appears in its membership terms; do not treat it as a complete court price.
- Lighting: SVN München lists an additional €2 per court-hour if you request indoor lighting when the venue considers daylight sufficient. Ask whether lighting is included for your slot.
- Single hour or winter subscription: A recurring reservation may come with different conditions. Sportcenter München Nord lists a 10% discount for members who pay in advance for a winter subscription; Iphitos reserves its 2026/27 winter subscriptions for members. Compare the full season cost and any membership charge with what you would pay for occasional hours.
If two people share a €40 court booking for one hour, the court charge works out to €20 each. Four players would each pay €10 for that same court charge. These examples exclude any guest or other per-player fees, so check the final total before splitting it.
How to book a court for winter play
- Choose an indoor court: Look at the location, journey and surface. A club listing outdoor courts is not enough to confirm winter play.
- Read the winter guest policy: Can you book without membership, or must a member reserve and play with you? Check single hours and season subscriptions separately.
- Open the current calendar: MTV uses eBusy and collects payment by direct debit. Iphitos also books individual hours through eBusy. The operator's system shows the available slots and applicable rate.
- Check the final amount: Add the court charge, any guest fee, optional lighting and advance payment for a subscription. Confirm whether each charge is per court or per person.
- Read cancellation and shoe rules: MTV’s FAQ says guest bookings cannot be cancelled, while its separate hall rules mention a 24-hour cancellation deadline. Ask which rule applies to your guest booking. Its carpet courts require non-marking indoor tennis shoes with smooth soles. Other halls may have different surfaces and rules.
A free slot on a calendar does not always mean your guest account can reserve it. If a venue's guidance gives different advance-booking windows, use the period actually available in its booking system and contact the operator if the rule is unclear.
Which indoor option fits your winter routine?
For an occasional match, look for clear guest access, a transparent final price and cancellation terms you can accept. If you want the same time every week, ask about winter subscriptions, their dates, advance payment and membership requirements. A convenient journey matters if you plan to play regularly after work.
Check the surface before packing your shoes. MTV describes carpet courts and asks for smooth, light-coloured soles. Iphitos describes both synthetic indoor courts and clay courts under air-supported domes. Ask the venue which shoes are permitted on the court you booked; requirements can differ even within one city.
Browse the Munich tennis venue page to explore local options, then confirm live availability and binding terms with the operator. You can also use the venue search to compare other areas.
Frequently asked questions about indoor tennis in Munich
Can I book an indoor tennis court in Munich without membership?
Yes, at some venues. MTV München allows non-member indoor bookings in winter. Check the guest policy for the particular venue and rate you want to use.
How much is an hour of indoor tennis in Munich?
As one published example, MTV München charges non-members €35 on weekday mornings and €40 for its later weekday and weekend slots. Other venues set their own rates and may charge extras.
Is a winter subscription cheaper than single hours?
It depends on how often you play and whether a membership is required. Sportcenter München Nord offers members a 10% discount on a prepaid winter subscription, while Iphitos limits its 2026/27 winter subscriptions to members. Compare the full season price with the number of hours you expect to use.
Can I cancel an indoor court booking?
Rules vary. MTV’s FAQ says guest bookings cannot be cancelled, but its separate hall rules mention a 24-hour deadline; confirm which rule applies to guests. SVN München generally allows free cancellation of indoor reservations up to 24 hours before play and states a separate rule for short-notice bookings. Read your venue's terms before paying.
