New to padel in Cologne? Compare taster sessions, workshops and coaching prices, see what your first lesson may include, and choose your next step.
A beginner padel course in Cologne should teach you the rules and first shots before you try to play on your own. You can start with a short taster session, an introductory workshop or coaching in a small group. The right choice depends on your experience, what equipment is included and the full price. This guide uses published Cologne offers to show what to expect and what to ask before you sign up. Details checked on 29 September 2026.
At a glance
- Taster session: Cologne Sportspark lists a 60-minute beginner session on Tuesdays at €25 per person, including the court and a racket.
- Introductory workshop: UniSport Köln describes a two-hour “Welcome to Pádel” workshop covering basic technique and rules.
- Before you register: Check the level, group size, date, equipment, eligibility and cancellation rules.
- RacketTogether: The platform is still in its pre-launch phase. You can join the Cologne waitlist to show interest and receive launch updates.
Which beginner padel course in Cologne is right for you?
If you have never played padel, start with a session clearly described as suitable for complete beginners. A single taster session lets you see whether you enjoy the game without committing to a longer course. A workshop allows more time for rules and practice. Private coaching can make sense if you want to learn at your own pace or work on a particular skill.
Local offers show the differences. Cologne Sportspark lists a 60-minute taster session for people with no previous experience. It also offers coaching for two people, groups of four and individuals. UniSport Köln describes its two-hour “Welcome to Pádel” workshop as an introduction to the sport and its rules. UniSport calls its beginner level “Level 1”; it asks tennis players to take an introductory session too if padel and its rules are new to them.
The distinction matters when booking. If you want to try padel once, a taster may be enough. If you enjoy it, ask about a regular group at your level. An ordinary court booking gives you playing time without a promise of coaching. For an overview of places to play, see the padel venues in Cologne.
What happens in your first padel taster session?
The exact lesson plan depends on the coach. As a useful guide, an introductory session may cover how to handle the racket and ball, the underarm serve and when the glass walls come into play. Simple rallies or drills with other participants can follow. Ask whether the session really starts from zero and leaves time for questions.
Cologne Sportspark says its beginner taster introduces padel basics without requiring previous experience; the published price includes court time and a racket. UniSport says its workshop covers basic technique and rules and supplies rackets and balls if you do not have your own. These descriptions explain the providers’ planned content, not a guarantee that every lesson follows the same sequence.
Bring comfortable sports clothes and water. UniSport specifically asks participants to wear clean trainers. For Cologne Sportspark’s outdoor court, ask the provider which shoes are suitable before you go. Also check whether you can attend alone or must bring a partner. Sportspark’s duo coaching, for example, is for two fixed partners; its taster session is a separate format.
How much does beginner padel coaching cost in Cologne?
Cologne Sportspark publishes the prices below. They are examples from one provider, not an average for Cologne. The figures were checked on 29 September 2026; confirm the current price and available places before signing up.
- Beginner taster: €25 per person for 60 minutes, including court and racket. The provider lists it for Tuesdays.
- Group of four: €35 per person for 60 minutes, including court and racket.
- Duo coaching: €55 per person for 60 minutes with a regular partner, including court and racket.
- Private coaching: €85 for 60 minutes including court and racket. The provider lists €115 for 90 minutes.
The lowest total is not automatically the best fit. Compare the per-person cost, lesson length, group size and included equipment. Other providers may charge separately for the court, coach, rackets or balls. Ask when payment is due and what happens if you need to cancel. UniSport Köln says its courses can be cancelled free of charge by email only up to 24 hours beforehand; other providers set their own terms.
How do you sign up for a beginner lesson?
Cologne Sportspark currently asks people to enquire about coaching by email. Check its current padel page for contact details and taster availability. UniSport Köln publishes its course conditions and current sessions on its course page. Read its eligibility and level rules before booking, even if you already play tennis.
Five questions can prevent a poor fit:
- Is the session for complete beginners? Some groups expect experience; UniSport assigns newcomers to Level 1.
- How many people share the coach? A group of four offers a different amount of individual attention from duo or private coaching.
- What does the price include? Check court time, racket, balls and any extra charges.
- How does registration work? Confirm the date, payment, whether you need to bring a partner and when your place is confirmed.
- What if you cancel or it rains? Check the cancellation deadline and the weather policy for outdoor sessions.
If you are not ready to choose a date, you can register your interest on the RacketTogether Cologne waitlist. Joining is free and does not commit you to a course. RacketTogether is still building its network; the waitlist is not a reservation and does not guarantee a place in a particular class.
What should you do after your first lesson?
Before you leave, ask the coach which level suits you next and whether you can practise with other beginners. If you enjoyed the taster, a regular group may help you build a routine. If the serve or your court position still feels unfamiliar, another guided session may help.
To play with friends, you need court time rather than a lesson. The Cologne padel venue page is a starting point for checking what is listed. If you want instruction, look at the Cologne course page. It may currently show no suitable courses because RacketTogether is still in its pre-launch phase. For a specific date now, contact a provider directly.
